Let me name a few greats in the world: Floyd Mayweather, William Shakespeare, Kobe Bryant, Elizabeth Gilbert, Prince, Micael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Abby Wambach etc. etc. The list could go on.
What were those people born with that you weren’t?
Why were they given the ability to be great, and here you are not even really sure what you’re doing?
How did they become masters of their craft?
What makes them so special?
The answer isn’t really all that difficult to figure out; it’s quite simple actually. They ignored everyone who said they couldn’t and did it anyway. They put in countless hours of work behind closed doors in order to achieve the success they only dreamt of. See, they weren’t born with some kind of special ability that you weren’t. They were born into the same world you were, starting from scratch as a baby just like you did. However, not everyone is born into the same circumstances, except it’s about what you were born into, it’s about what you do despite what you were born into.
No one has an easy path to greatness. No one. It takes everything within you to pursue through all the downfall. There is no secret formula that leads you down the path of greatness. The path is different for everyone and I guarantee it looks like a freaking circus on paper. But that’s what you have to go through if you want to be great. We all have something hidden deep down within us that is just waiting to come out. We have to do the work, though. Nothing great in life comes easy. It’s really a guessing game, but you have to keep playing the game—otherwise you’ll never have a chance of guessing correctly.
I promise you it doesn’t matter where you come from, or who you think you are. You have the power to make neither one of those things hold you back. If you don’t like the person you are, change; if you aren’t proud of where you come from, work hard and put yourself in a position that makes where you come from just a stepping stone to where you want to be.
Set big goals for yourself and don’t think for even a second that you can’t achieve them. Make no mistake though, it takes work. You’re going to cry and you’re going to wonder why the hell you ever thought you could make it in the first place. But this is all part of becoming great. We all have the strength. We are all capable of achieving our dreams. Accept only very few ever do, because most don’t have the guts to overcome the hardships. Don’t be that person. Be the person who is constantly pushing themselves to be who and where they want to be. You may never make it, but that doesn’t take away from your greatness. I don’t see greatness as being the best, I see greatness as being able to realize what you are capable of and spending every second trying to reach that peak.
