songs for the soul

I am constantly listening to music and I have a very specific taste. The only way I can explain it is, I like everything except for what I don’t… When I write, especially, I love listening to music. It helps me feel more full and less alone. Today I just want to give you sixteen songs I love, that you probably haven’t heard of.

  1. Shine – Benjamin Francis Leftwich
  2. The Fire – Kina Grannis
  3. Happiness (acoustic) – NEEDTOBREATHE
  4. Big Jet Plane – Angus & Julia Stone
  5. Sailing Away – Avec
  6. Slow and Steady – Of Monsters and Men
  7. In Your Arms – Felix Riebl
  8. Someone New – Hozier
  9. Only Love – Ben Howard
  10. Barcelona – George Ezra
  11. The Breach – Dustin Tebbutt
  12. Who Says – John Mayer
  13. Changes – Langhorne Slim
  14. 1234 – Feist
  15. Three Thirty – Eighty Ninety
  16. Skinny Love – Birdy

I’ve always related very closely to Peyton Sawyer off of One Tree Hill. Everything about her reminds me of me. This quote of hers really describes how I feel:

These are songs that I could listen to on repeat forever. They are pretty much alternative and the lyrics are what hit me. When it comes to music I don’t like the rap and hip-hop as much as I like these types of songs. I listen for the words—I guess that says a lot about me… But I hope you take a listen, and I’ll be back with a longer blog tomorrow. I’m worn out.
